Increasing the quality of life by developing people’s soft-skills
We strongly believe that in the 21st century, people need soft skills more than technical skills and academic degrees to make better, more constructive, and more ethical decisions. Soft skills help people to live together more peacefully and friendly. Learning soft skills not only positively affects the quality of the learner’s life but also all those around this person, and ultimately the whole society will benefit from it.
Studies conducted by various institutions (such as the Stanford Research Institute and the Carnegie-Mellon Foundation) have shown that about 75% of long-term success in jobs gain through soft skills, and hard skills result in only 25% of success. People who have developed soft skills are better at introducing themselves, understand the roles, and make better and faster decisions.
Various categories of soft skills have been introduced by specialized institutions. GEED has chosen the following skills to train through this project:
- Teamwork
- Self-Management
- Negotiation Skills
- Creative Thinking
- Problem-Solving
- Legal Pleading
- Planning & Organisation
- Critical/Analytical Thinking
- Language and Communication Skills
- Development, promotion, and presentation of standard soft skill courses for specific target groups in different languages
- Designing and developing an online learning management platform
Ideally, this project’s audiences are people from different demographic segments with different backgrounds. Still, in practice, due to limitations, the project starts with a limited group of audiences (who GEED has more access to them). In the future, the audience domain will expand step by step.
Group 1:
Immigrants (& refugees) and their family members who currently live and work in Germany have problems in their personal or work lives due to a lack of soft skills.
Group 2:
Skilled workers and professionals from less-developed/developing countries have a concrete plan to emigrate and work in Germany.
Group 3:
People from less-developed or developing countries, especially from the Middle East, work and live in their home country but do not have favorable economic or psychological living conditions due to a lack of familiarity with soft skills. These groups can be identified and trained with the help of local charities and NGOs in their countries.
